- EASE TRAINING CLASSES

What do they cover/how much do they cost?

EASE Learning Lab at R-H

- What do they cover and how much do they cost?
EASE Level 1 classes are 3 day sessions that start on Monday morning and run through Wednesday afternoon. They cover the basics of using EASE 4.2 and EASE JR 4.2 with particular emphasis on room modeling techniques and basic electro/acoustic analysis. Jim Mobley and Jonas Domkus, our Application Engineers, are the instructors for most Level 1 classes. Click here to review a synopsis of the EASE Classes.

The tuition is $550.00. It covers the cost of classroom materials, coffee breaks and lunch every day plus at least one dinner.

Out of town students normally fly into the John Wayne Orange County Airport (SNA) or Los Angeles Intl Airport (LAX) and stay at a local Foothill Ranch hotel which has a reasonable room rate and serves a free continental breakfast. We recommend renting a car from your favorite rental company.

The classes are held quarterly. Click here to view schedule.

The EASE Learning Lab has nine computers with the latest versions of EASE and EARS installed and running, so that everyone can use the same hardware and software. Students are encouraged to bring their own laptop with them so they can practice in the evening, but are discouraged from bringing their computers to class.

- Class Synopsys
Prerequisites: You must own a copy of EASE 4.2 or EASE JR 4.2 and have basic sound system design experience; be familiar with using Windows and with basic acoustic terms and industry standards for sound system performance.

You will get more from the class if you have installed EASE and worked through the tutorial at least once. The more familiar you are with the program, the more you will learn.

The goal of the EASE Level 1 classes is to help you learn to use EASE as a tool and not to teach acoustics or sound system design. EASE classes are not classes in acoustics or in system design. To increase your knowledge of acoustics and to sharpen your system design skills, we recommend Syn-Aud-Con seminars, NSCA classes or similar educational avenues.

The following class synopsis lists the main subjects covered in the EASE level 1 classes. Since student experience levels vary widely from class to class, the classes do not always follow this schedule exactly and this synopsis should be viewed as a general outline of the subject matter covered.

Day 1
1) Brief program overview
2) Basic room input techniques
3) Advanced room input techniques
4) Placing and aiming loudspeakers

Day 2
1) Brief acoustics overview
2) EASE 2D mapping
3) EASE 3D mapping
4) Clustering and grouping loudspeakers
5) Necessary room model detail
6) EASE Speaker base
7) EASE Wall base

Day 3
1) Using the Probe
2) Ray Tracing Movie
3) Auralizing direct sound
4) Using EASE and EASE JR as a presentation tool
5) Using the VISION Texture and Light Source Editors
6) Exporting and Importing License Keys
