  EASE Wall (Surface) Materials Data

In EASE, internal surfaces (called Faces by EASE) are assigned a specific Wall Material which determines the Faces absorption characteristics for each 1/3 octave band from 100 Hz to 10,000 Hz. This information is used by EASE to calculate the room’s reverberation time (RT60) for each 1/3 octave band. EASE then uses the RT times in any of its simulations that involve RT times (for example, D/R Ratio, Critical Distance, ALcons, etc.).

The absorption characteristics are also used in any simulations that involve reflections (Ray Tracing) to calculate the energy loss incurred when a Ray strikes a surface.

EASE includes a large database of Wall Materials. The database is an open database and both Renkus-Heinz and ADA have encouraged all manufacturers of acoustic materials to supply data on their products to ADA so they can be -included in the EASE database.

EASE users can also add other materials to the database either by entering the data Or by importing it from a spreadsheet program. Each Wall Material data file includes the material’s absorption coefficient for each of the 1/3 octave bands covered by EASE.

Provisions for diffusion characteristics are also included and these can be entered into the program by any user who knows the material’s diffusion characteristics.
