Mirror Image Impacts involves a systematic search for all possible reflections that will hit (impact upon) the selected location(s). It uses geometric principles to identify all the rays that will eventually impact upon the location and then traces their path from start to finish. It is the most accurate method of producing the Impact file needed for detailed acoustical investigations and auralization because the simulation is going to pick up every possible impact within the designated time frame.

The computation times for Mirror Image Impacts, however, are longer than the times required for Find Impacts. Accordingly, Mirror Image Impact studies are usually reserved for rooms having no more than 30 to 50 faces. Find Impacts or AURA are usually used for more complicated rooms.
