  Direct Sound (SPL) Calculations

Direct SPL at 5000 Hz

Direct SPL at 1000 Hz

Without doubt the most often used simulation is Direct SPL. The reason is that many designers follow the rule of thumb that if you have good direct sound coverage you have a good system. Good coverage is usually described as being flat within plus or minus 3 dB.

The Open GL architecture of EASE and EASE JR allows you to view the results of the simulation from any angle. The 3D views shown above are more striking and revealing than a straight overhead view, commonly called a plan view.

Note the effects of interference and frequency on the SPL levels.
